Common electrical jobs

  • We replace, move and install sockets and switches — in Söder's turn-of-the-century apartments, unearthed sockets are still everyday finds.
  • We carry out electrical work for kitchen and bathroom renovations, with a fixed price before the work begins and in consultation with the housing association when needed.
  • We replace old apartment panels with modern consumer units with residual current devices — often the first step in an older Söder apartment.
  • We install EV chargers in housing associations' garages, with the Green Technology deduction applied directly to the price.
  • We troubleshoot electrical faults — fuses that keep tripping, dead sockets and flickering lights.

The turn-of-the-century buildings: Katarina and Maria around Mariatorget and Nytorget

The blocks around Mariatorget, Nytorget and SoFo are dominated by buildings from the decades around 1900. The electrics have often been redone in stages, but unearthed sockets, old riser lines and cramped apartment panels remain…

Functionalism and the 1930s–40s: Högalid, Hornstull and Reimersholme

Western Söder was built out with functionalist buildings during the 1930s and 40s, and on Reimersholme the housing blocks of the era stand largely intact. The electrics have been updated in stages — common jobs are residual…

The 1940s–60s: the Tanto high-rises and the blocks along Ringvägen

The high-rises by Tantolunden and the post-war blocks along Ringvägen were built for a different level of electricity use than today's. The associations here upgrade consumer units, replace sockets during pipe replacements and…

New blocks and converted attics: Södra Hammarbyhamnen and all of Söder

In Södra Hammarbyhamnen the electrics are modern from the start, and there the work is about charging points and smart lighting. At the same time, attics are being converted to apartments across the district — complete…

Emergency electrician, 24/7

An electrical fault does not wait for office hours. Our emergency line on Södermalm is open around the clock — call when a fuse keeps tripping, when half your apartment has lost power or when there is a burnt smell from the consumer unit. The call-out and fault diagnosis cost a fixed SEK 3,900 at any hour, and if a repair is needed you get a fixed price for it before we start. If you see smoke or open flames, always call 112 first.

Frequently asked questions

What does an electrician cost on Södermalm?

With us, every job has a fixed price that you see before booking. Replacing a socket costs SEK 2 095 and an EV charger installation SEK 10 900 after deductions. Larger jobs, such as replacing an apartment consumer unit or rewiring, are always quoted at a fixed price.

What is the hourly rate for an electrician?

We do not charge by the hour. Every service has a fixed price, so there are no hours or markups to calculate. The price you book is the price you pay, even if the job takes longer than expected.

How quickly can I get help from an electrician on Södermalm?

You choose an available time directly when booking — we take jobs across the whole district, from Hornstull and Högalid to Nytorget, Skanstull and Södra Hammarbyhamnen. For acute electrical faults, our emergency line is open around the clock with a fixed price for call-out and fault diagnosis.

How do I know an electrician is certified?

Check that the company is registered with the Swedish Electrical Safety Board (Elsäkerhetsverket) — you can do this yourself in their online register. All our work is carried out by certified electricians and led by an authorised electrical installer.

Which electrical jobs must be done by a certified electrician?

In principle, all work on the fixed installation: new wiring, consumer units, sockets and everything in wet rooms. You may replace bulbs and fuses and plug in appliances yourself — most things beyond that require a registered electrical installation company.

Can I get the ROT deduction on electrical work?

Yes. ROT is a Swedish tax reduction of 30% on labour costs for most electrical work in your home, up to SEK 50,000 per person per year, and we apply it directly to your invoice. The exceptions are fault diagnosis and emergency call-outs, which do not qualify. EV chargers fall under the Green Technology deduction instead, at 50% on labour and materials.

How much does it cost to replace a socket?

Replacing an existing socket costs a fixed SEK 2 095 with us. If you need several sockets replaced at the same time, you see the price for that directly in the booking.

Why does my fuse keep tripping?

Usually a circuit is overloaded — too many appliances on the same fuse — or an appliance has a fault that trips the residual current device. In turn-of-the-century buildings, the fault sometimes sits in the installation itself. If the fuse trips repeatedly without a clear cause, have an electrician diagnose it instead of just resetting it.

Why is my socket not working?

Start by checking the fuse and the residual current device. If the socket still does not work, the cause may be a loose connection or a break in the wiring — faults that should be repaired by a certified electrician, especially in older installations where screw terminals have worked loose.
