Electrician in Stockholm

What does it cost to rewire a house in Stockholm?

A standard 120 m² house comes to roughly SEK 162,000 after the ROT deduction. The guide price is approximately SEK 1,350 per square metre after ROT — but every house is different, so you always receive a fixed quote after a free home visit before anything is decided. We work in houses and terraced houses throughout Stockholm and will suggest a time as soon as the booking is in.

What is included in a rewire?

New cables throughout the house, a new consumer unit with RCD and MCBs, earthed sockets in all rooms and documentation of the whole installation. You get a house where the electrics are as-new — and that shows in everyday life, in insurance conditions and on the day the terraced house or detached house is sold on an active Stockholm market. All work is carried out by a qualified electrical installer.

When is it time?

Stockholm has a large stock of houses and terraced houses with original electrics from the middle of the last century: unearthed sockets, dry insulation and small consumer units not designed for today's load with EV charger, heat pump and a kitchen full of appliances. Flickering lights, tripping fuses and warm back-boxes are signals to take seriously.

How to get your exact cost

The price per square metre gives an honest indication, but the number of floors, ceiling height and what the walls look like all matter. Book a free home visit and we go through the house and give a fixed quote — it holds, with no additions afterwards. The ROT deduction is handled for you and applied directly to the invoice. Travel and standard materials are included in the price.

Can we stay in the house while it is being rewired?

Yes, that is the norm. We work room by room and ensure that the kitchen, fridge, freezer and parts of the house have power in the evenings. The most disruptive days are around the consumer unit replacement — plan those in advance and the rest goes with limited impact on the busy city life of work, school and routines.

How long does a rewire take?

From a few days in a smaller terraced house to a couple of weeks in a large detached house with many rooms — size, number of floors and the construction of walls and floor structures are the determining factors. The quote after the home visit includes a schedule as well as a price so the work can be fitted into the family calendar.

House purchases drive many rewires

A large proportion of the rewires we carry out coincide with a change of ownership — either as a condition of the sale or as the new owner's first project when an older house changes hands. If you are considering it before a purchase, an electrical inspection is a sensible starting point: the report shows in black and white whether the house needs a rewire now, in five years or not at all, before you commit.

Frequently asked questions

Does the ROT deduction apply to rewiring?

Yes, the labour cost qualifies for a 30% ROT deduction in homes more than five years old, and we handle the deduction for you and apply it directly to the invoice. The guide price per square metre on this page is stated after ROT.

Do the walls need to be opened up?

No, most of the cable runs go through existing conduit, behind skirtings and via the loft or basement. A few new back-boxes and chases may be needed — any making good of surface finishes is not included; that is for your painter or carpenter.

Is the quote after the home visit binding?

Yes, you receive a fixed quote that holds — with no additions afterwards. The home visit is free of charge and without obligation so you can make a decision with the full cost on the table.
