Electrician in Stockholm
An old fuse box is replaced with a modern consumer unit with RCD and miniature circuit breakers — labelled, function-tested and documented. Fixed price, no surprises halfway through, whether it is a flat, terraced house or detached house.
With MCBs you reset a tripped circuit with a single click instead of hunting for fuses. An RCD is included in the new unit, every circuit is labelled and the whole installation is function-tested before we leave. You receive the documentation — useful at resale, for insurance claims and at transfer of a housing association flat.
Typical signs: fuses tripping more and more often, no RCD in the unit, or plans for an EV charger, induction hob or larger renovation requiring more circuits. An old fuse box is rarely sized for today's electrical demands, and in older Stockholm properties the consumer units are often both small and full to the last spare slot.
Just need a dedicated breaker for something new, not a whole new unit? A new circuit in the existing consumer unit has a fixed price; see the price row above. Preparing for an EV charger? Load balancing can be added directly in the booking — practical in terraced houses and detached houses where a charger needs to share with the household's other consumption.
Expect the home to be without power for most of the working day. Plan the home office elsewhere, keep fridge and freezer closed so they hold temperature, and charge phones in advance. When we reconnect, each circuit is tested, labelled and documented — so the day ends with a consumer unit that is better than it was in the morning.
For a straight unit replacement you as the customer do not need to contact anyone — we handle it. If you also want to increase the main fuse in the home, for example ahead of an EV charger, that requires a notification to the network operator, and we handle that for you as part of the job.
In large parts of Stockholm's older housing stock the fuse box is from the year the building was built — designed for a time before dishwashers, induction hobs, underfloor heating and EV chargers. The boxes are not dangerous in themselves, but they lack an RCD, have no spare circuits and cannot handle many more years of today's load. Replacing now is cheaper than an emergency replacement later.
Yes, every circuit is labelled and the whole installation is function-tested and documented — valuable at resale, for insurance claims and for future electrical work.
Often, for example from a cramped corner to the hall or utility room. Note the request in the booking and you will get a fixed price for the relocation before work begins.
At the start and finish — in between it is enough that we can access the consumer unit. Many customers let us in in the morning and come home to a finished job.
